Brading Scarecrow Festival 22nd to 30th Sept


Welcome to Brading’s  second Scarecrow Festival which incorporates celebrating The  Isle of Wight Day.

This year we are holding extra events, so not only can you go and find  scarecrows,  there are other  activities which you can join in and have fun!

The Festival runs for a week, creating the opportunity for many more visitors to come and see the amazing creations that the residents of Brading have made.

Alongside all the scarecrows we are organising other events for your entertainment;.  

On Friday the 22nd September, the start of the Brading Festival,  not only will the scarecrows be out for judging,  but the Brading Art Group will be holding an Art Exhibition in St Mary’s Church which will run to Sunday 24th September.

Saturday, 23rd September from 12 noon – 4pm. Brading Ladies have kindly offered to host a Scarecrow Garden Party, including lunch or afternoon tea to be held at Morton Manor. The beautiful gardens and Tea room make a perfect place for a family picnic, or just afternoon tea. Entry is £8 adults, Children over 2yrs – £4, this is inclusive of refreshments, admission to the gardens, and garden scarecrow hunt. Booking is advisable. Please ring 01983 408108.  There will be a book stall and some Preloved items. This event is being supported by Jan Gibson, Tesco’s Community Champion.

Sunday 24th September is the Scarecrow Story Walk to be held at Beech Grove Park (situated off the Mall, with access by the side of Beech Grove Surgery) This event is for children. The story has been written especially for the occasion and narrated by Stephanie Artress (the narrator at Morton Manor for A Story in the Garden earlier in the year) Children are invited to help find the lost medal. £1 per child,  3 yrs and over.  To include a reward.  Booking is advisable –  01983 408108

There will be a family treasure hunt around the town, with a prize for the first to solve all the clues. Forms for this competition are available from the Rectory Mansion Vintage Tea Rooms, Quay Lane. There will be a small charge (to cover printing costs) Please return your completed forms to the Tearooms and place in the box provided. You must include all your contact details to be able to win a prize.

‘Find the Scarecrow Maps’ will also be available from the Vintage Tea Rooms, the same applies for submitting your entries as for the Treasure Hunt. Just pop them back during opening hours to be entered into the competition.

Sunday 29th September at the Bugle, High Street. 7:30pm Marc Tuckey presents an evening of Ghostly Tales.  Last year was a really good evening last year.  Please book Ghostly Tales on 01983 408108, or if you wish to eat, please book directly with the Bugle Tel 01983 407359

All proceeds (less expenses) to be donated to The Brading Community Partnership, Registered Charity 1172210 The Youth Club and Building.   We appreciate your support. Donations can be made, with collecting tins available in most businesses in Brading.
